The wines of Scholium Project are infused with the soul of owner Abe Schoener.

Abe believes that both success and failure are experiences, and says that the act of "making wine" itself is a learning experience.

However, no matter how hard you study, it's all meaningless if the wine doesn't taste good.

Abe seems to understand that this is a basic premise.

To be honest, the wines from the Scholium Project are the type of wines that people either love or hate.

Abe says that regardless of whether their wines suit his taste or not, the experience of his wines is meaningful in itself, and that he hopes that consumers will then use that experience to deepen their knowledge of wine.

"Scholium" comes from the Greek word "scholion."

This is meant to convey the meaning of "learning about wine."

Abe's mentor, John Kongsgaard, said this about Abe:

"Trying new things and making experimental wines is something that all winemakers do.

What's amazing about Abe is that he doesn't just serve these wines at home parties and ask for opinions, he has no hesitation in selling them publicly.

And while wines like this often receive mixed reviews from consumers, for Abe, wine is not a matter of whether or not someone likes the taste.

By drinking that wine, did you discover something new, learn something new about wine, and think carefully about why the wine tastes the way it does?

Only those who feel that drinking Abe's wine makes them think can become fans of the wines he makes.
