The vineyard is located at an altitude of 430m on the eastern highlands of Sonoma Mountain AVA, overlooking the town of Glen Ellen to the east and Bennett Valley to the northwest.
Sonoma Mountain was once under the Pacific Ocean, so its soil is made up of marine sedimentary rocks, as well as speckles loam and tuff.
The area where Van der Kamp's fields are located is known to have been inhabited by indigenous people (the Coast Miwok) for thousands of years, and agriculture has been practiced on this land for hundreds of years.
Due to the influence of the Coast Miwok people, who believed that the birth of mankind began at the top of the mountain, Sonoma Mountain is still a sacred site of religious importance today.
This brand is owned by Samantha Sheen, a talented female winemaker who is a hot topic among American wine lovers.
Samantha began studying winemaking after a trip to Burgundy.
Behind the world's most famous and expensive Burgundy wines lie humble and homely winemakers, and I was fascinated by this solemn and honest world of wine.
After returning to California, Samantha founded POE.
Their motto is not to produce imitations of "Burgundy wine made in California," but to produce limited quantities of attractive, elegant, single-vineyard wines that are carefully crafted with a strong sense of California's terroir and can be aged for a long time.
