Renowned Napa Valley winemaker Randy Dunn has earned a reputation for producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon.

He brings over 40 years of winemaking experience to the Columbia Valley, creating Feather, the only wine made outside of California.

It is rich and concentrated in colour with a depth that is consistent in its rich flavour profile and texture.

This is a full-bodied wine with ripe black fruit characters, fresh plum aromas and hints of dried herbs.

On the palate it is structured and rich, blending with elegant tannins to create a complex and completely integrated experience.

It's delicious to drink young, but also has enough tannins and bright fruit to make it suitable for long cellar life.

The 2019 Feather combines three different Cabernet Sauvignon growing regions in Washington State to create a complex, layered wine.

Weinbau (Waluq Slopes) and Dionysos (White Bluffs) vineyards make up the majority of the finished blend.

The Weinbau gives the wine structure, while the Dionysus gives it a rich, intense character.

The remaining quarter is selected from Horse Heaven Hills' top vineyards, offering polished, silky tannins and attractive woodsy notes.

2019 has produced some excellent red wines of outstanding quality and consistency.

This season has started slowly.

Unexpected late winter snow lasted until mid-March, which resulted in the soil being slow to warm and delayed bud break in April, but warmer temperatures in May encouraged flowering.

The summer weather was mild, with no heat waves and temperatures remaining moderate well into autumn.

The grapes ripened slowly, allowing the fruit to reach perfect physiological maturity, resulting in a vintage characterized by freshness and elegance.

The hand-picked grapes were sorted, lightly crushed and then fermented in small stainless steel tanks.

A robust cap pump-over was performed at the peak of fermentation to achieve optimal structure and concentrated color and flavor.

Towards the end of fermentation we use more gentle pump-overs to further develop colour and delicate flavours and avoid the production of harsh tannins.

It was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 85% of which were new.

Long Shadows was founded in 2002 by Washington wine visionary Allen Shoop.

Shoop served as President and CEO of Chateau Ste. Michelle from 1984 to 2000, where he developed international winemaking partnerships with world-renowned Italian Piero Antinori (Col Solare) and German Dr. Loosen (Eroica Riesling).

Building on this success, Long Shadows was established to bring an elite group of great winemakers from the world's major wine regions to Washington State to create world-class wines that showcase the excellence of Washington State's Columbia Valley grape growing region.

Each winemaker partners individually with Shoop and the winery's resident winemaker, Jill Nicoll, to create their own quintessential, top-quality wine using their own vinification techniques and bottled in their own unique style.
