A new San Diego style IPA with a hop aroma that shines like an aurora.

What was previously a limited brew has been added to the standard lineup from January 2016.

San Diego is far from the Arctic Circle, so of course you can't see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis in English) shining in the night sky.

But San Diego has something that shines just like the Northern Lights.

It's an IPA.

San Diego is a sacred place where many beers with hop aroma and flavor are born.

And Aurora Hoppyalis is brewed in honor of this city steeped in hop magic.

Based on pale malt and wheat, Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Citra hops are added to create a beer that San Diego locals recognize as "This is an IPA."

When poured into a glass, the orange-golden liquid has an off-white head.

Aromas are hop-derived tropical fruit and tangerine, with hints of pine and green grass.

The palate is again very tropical, with flavors of mango, passion fruit, citrus and pine that continue to please the drinker.

The finish is dry and crispy.

Easy to drink with a medium carbonation that makes you feel refreshed.

In contrast to the classic bitter and citrusy Tower 10 IPA with Cascade, Chinook and Centennial hops, this San Diego-style IPA pushes tropical aromas to the fore.

In California, it became tremendously popular as soon as it was released, and many stores sold out within a day or two.

Under a cloudless hoppy night sky, Aurora Hoppyalis will sparkle and impress the drinker.

Bronze award at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival.
