COMMENT
They own 35 hectares of their own vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, a famous wine-producing region in the north of the Rhone. Most of the wine produced in this region is red, but the white Crozes-Hermitage they produce is also excellent. Both the red and white wines are different from the general image of heavy, strong Rhone wines, and have a sense of precision and coolness.
This is "Hermitage", a great red wine representing the Northern Rhone region. This domaine plants grape vines closely together according to traditional methods, harvesting grapes with more concentrated elements. Although it contains a lot of tannins, the long aging in barriques and the years after bottling allow the tannins to dissolve finely into the wine, evolving it into a wine with depth and a long aftertaste.
WINEMAKING
A plot on the side of a granite hill. Facing due south. Vineyard with échalas-style vineyards. Fermented for 28-30 days in stainless steel and concrete tanks, with temperature control and pigeage and remontage. Aged for 15-18 months in barriques (100% new).
