This is a long-established winery founded in 1987 by Brian Clouser and Rollin Soles. They saw the potential in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which take time to ripen in Oregon, the northernmost latitude for grape growing in the New World. In 2000, they were selected as "Oregon's Premier Winery" by Wine Spectator magazine. Currently, Argyle owns vineyards mainly in Dundee Hills and Eola Amity Hills, which are said to produce the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Oregon. All grapes are hand-picked and transported to the winery in small baskets, where they are stored overnight at 2°C and crushed the next day. By storing the grapes at a low temperature overnight, the characteristics of the ripe fruit are preserved and oxidation is minimized. All of Argyle's sparkling wines are vintage, and they are disgorged on demand after receiving an order, making them into carefully crafted sparkling wines.
