This wine is The Vice's fourth vintage of orange wine.
The wine's orange color comes from the skin contact and skin maceration that takes place during fermentation of the Gewürztraminer grapes.
(The same process that gives red wine its color, tannins and depth of flavor.) Gewürztraminer is a variety that has enjoyed success in Germany since the 16th century and literally means "spiced Traminer" or "perfumed Traminer."
Today, Gewurztraminer is more than rare; it's a very unique variety that thrives in cool climates like our Gulf Coast vineyards.
It has floral, tropical and spicy flavours.
Bright and aromatic, the nose reveals rich aromas of lychee, rose petals and white peach that overflow from the glass.
The silky mouthfeel is packed with the same flavours as these noses.
It has a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, with hints of melon, blood orange and cardamom on the finish.
It was a perfect season from start to finish.
Napa experienced its 10th wettest winter on record, emerging from extreme drought and surprisingly without any flooding.
The arrival of spring was as beautiful as poetry, and the summer was mild with no heat waves.
The harvest was a month later than in recent years.
Thanks to slow ripening, the grapes have reached their potential to be talked about for decades to come.
The highest quality Napa at the best value...The Vice: A sense of sin, a bad habit - something that gives me guilty pleasure, something that's bad for me if I do it in excess but brings me happiness if I don't do it enough, something that's necessary to live a happy and productive life...wine is my Vice.
The Vice is a brand that produces small batches of high quality wines from Napa Valley.
We brew our wines from single grape varieties hand-selected from vineyards that offer the best expression of the grape variety and region.
The brand was born from passionate people, sustainable agriculture, expertise in the wine industry and an understanding of modern consumer tastes.
Owner and chief winemaker, Malek Amaroni, was born in Morocco and studied medicine before his passion turned to wine.
After a tough life in New York and a successful career in the wine industry, he pursued his winemaking dreams and released his first vintage in 2013.
He personally collects the grapes from the fields, transports them in trucks, crushes them by hand, bottles them, and designs the labels together with his wife Tori, who is also a designer.
He will also be appointed to the Napa Valley Vintners Board of Directors in 2023, becoming the youngest member of the board, and as one of Napa's most promising producers, he is committed to offering wines of outstanding quality at the most attractive value.
