A wine that is a model of the RRV terroir. 2023 will be a good year.
This is August West's first release of the vintage. 85% Graham Family Vineyards, 15% Morris Ranch, and the RRV harvest was two weeks late. Graham and the first half of the Morris vineyards were harvested on October 13th, and the second half of the Graham vineyards on October 19th. Prior to 2023, the latest harvest for the RRV was October 5th in 2012. The growing season got off to a very late start due to a cold, wet winter. Spring and summer weather was normal, i.e. cool and foggy, which delayed the grapes' ripeness and delayed the harvest.
All destemmed and fermented.
Aged 10 months in French oak barrels (20% new).

Delicate aromas of wild berry fruits, hints of mint and loamy earth. Elegant flavor, smooth texture, exquisite acidity and tannins on the finish create a long aftertaste.
