Château des Zérans is a small chateau owned by the Gonet-Médeville couple.

The estate is surrounded by the magnificent vineyards of Chateau Margaux, Chateau Lascombes and Chateau Palmer, and just across a 3m road is Chateau Margaux, itself a privileged location right next to Chateau Margaux.

The Gonet-Médeville couple come from prestigious families in Champagne and Bordeaux.

Her husband, Xavier, is the third son of the prestigious Champagne family, Philippe Gonet, from Mesnil-sur-Oger, and his wife, Julie, is the third daughter of the prestigious Sauternes family, Chateau Gilette.

The couple met while students at the University of Bordeaux and married in 1997.

In 2004, the couple started making wine in Bordeaux.

Fate came to these two young people in 2009.

The vines were purchased from Eric Grandeur, who has served as winemaker at Chateau Margaux for three generations.

In 2013, he purchased the land and became the owner of the chateau.

Eric, who knows Chateau Margaux inside and out, believed in the passion and potential of the two young men for wine and entrusted them with this wonderful vineyard.

The vineyard has typical Margaux geology, with granite layers extending up to 22 metres underground.

The pair, who place great importance on terroir, replanted the vines in 2009 and began cultivating their vines using the lutte raisonnée farming method, which does not use any pesticides.

Although we are not certified organic, we practice organic farming and plan to move to biodynamic farming methods in the future.

The two aim to express the terroir and produce wines with plenty of fruitiness and suppleness, so they separate the grapes into plots and make Burgundy-style wines.

With the completion of a brewery equipped with modern facilities, this chateau is now producing even higher quality wines and is garnering attention for its refined wines.
