Our story began in 1971 when my parents, Susan Sokol and Bill Blosser, planted their first vines in the Dundee Hills of Oregon.

As second generation winemakers, we create world class wines that showcase the character of our hillside vineyards in a sustainable way.

" I am passionate about my family's legacy.

- Alex & Alison Sokol Blosser This fragrance is light and floral with bright fruit notes.

On the palate there are hints of dark cherry, pomegranate and rhubarb.

This wine pairs well with classic dishes such as Chicken Marsala and Pepper Steak.

Spring 2018 was warmer and significantly drier than the average for the past 10 years.

The buds sprouted in mid-April and bloomed in early June.

Spring weather is very important as it has a major influence on flowering.

A huge hail storm ripped through the Dundee Hills in early June, but fortunately Sokol Blosser's grapes were spared.

Summer began like a giant furnace.

July was a hot month, with many days exceeding 32 degrees.

It seemed like the heat would continue, but the weather has become milder since August began.

Cooler weather in September allowed the grapes to hang for longer, resulting in better ripeness without excessive sugar build-up.

2018 has been the coolest growing season since 2012 and we are confident it will be our best vintage yet.

The grapes from this block were carefully hand-harvested between the 18th and 22nd of September and kept separately in three sections throughout the process.

The bunches were then hand sorted, defective bunches removed and 100% de-stemmed before going directly into the fermentation tank.

The wine is fermented with wild yeasts, spends 25+ days on the skins, and is capped using a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs.

After pressing, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (17% new).

Finally, the three sections that were kept separately during fermentation and aging were blended together and 24 selected barrels were used to create the 2018 Big Tree Block.

When Sokol Blosser first planted vines in 1971, the wine industry was virtually nonexistent in Oregon.

Today, with over 900 wineries and 30,000 vineyards, Oregon wine can be enjoyed anywhere in the world.

Sokol Blosser is a family-owned winery that has been a leader in sustainable grape growing and business practices since the beginning of winemaking in Oregon.

Sokol Blosser is committed to producing world-class wines that express the distinctive flavors of our hillside vineyards while respecting the environment and our health.

This commitment to world-class quality and environmental awareness are Sokol Blosser's core values, and they not only practice organic farming, but also produce wines that are kind to the environment and the people who work there.

This initiative has been ongoing since the winery was founded, and in the fall of 2005 it received the prestigious official organic certification from the United States Department of Agriculture.
