Made with old vine Sauvignon Blanc from Bextfar Melrose Vineyard (north of Rutherford). Fermented and aged in French barrels, it adds depth to the mouthfeel and richness to the flavor. The aroma of ripe Japanese pear and clementine orange, the crisp acidity, ripe pineapple, apricot, beeswax, and honeydew melon spread harmoniously in the mouth, and flow into a smooth finish with accents of creamy white peach and lightly crushed stone.
Tasting Comments
"On the whisper = In a voice that sounds like the flapping of butterfly wings, he whispers that it is a rare item..."
Taste notes: When poured into the glass, it has a bright straw yellow color and beautiful aromas of white flowers, ripe Japanese pear, and clementine orange.
Fermentation and aging in French barrels gives the wine a thick mouthfeel and adds a rich flavor.
A crisp acidity is followed by ripe pineapple, apricot, beeswax and honeydew melon that unfold harmoniously in the mouth.
A rich, full-bodied palate offers fresh citrus, creamy white peach and lightly crushed stone accents leading to a perfectly balanced finish.
The result is an iconic example of classic Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, combining exceptional terroir, exceptional old vine flavors and meticulous craftsmanship.
It's delicious to drink now, but aging for 5 to 7 years will bring out its underlying complexity.
