2016 was again a drought-plagued vintage with very low rainfall, resulting in early budbreak, flowering and veraison.
The unstable weather conditions compounded the already early flowering period, resulting in poor fruit set.
Later in the growing season, vines in non-irrigated vineyards began to suffer from water and nutrient stress in ways they had not experienced in the past.
However, the resulting wine was crisp, full of energy and just the right weight.
An expressive, pure, very aromatic and well-balanced wine.
The Chaido Viento Vineyard is located on a gentle east-facing slope on the western side of the Salinas Valley at the foot of the Santa Lucia Mountains.
