Contarini was founded in 1957 in the town of Conegliano, Treviso, Veneto. The land of Treviso has a perfect terroir, with cool winds from the Alps and warm breezes from the Adriatic Sea, and has been a place of vineyard cultivation since ancient times. It is known as an ideal location for growing grapes.
Conegliano is known as the heart of Prosecco because it produces particularly good grapes, and was once called the "Pearl of Veneto." The first school of viticulture and oenology in Italy was also established here in 1877, which shows how deeply rooted the wine culture is in this region. The name "Contarini" was chosen in honor of Zaccaria Contarini, a brilliant aristocrat and head of the administration at the time who loved the charming wines of Conegliano, and was inspired by his desire to cherish the unique culture of Conegliano. Based on this desire, Contarini values tradition while always remaining inquisitive. They produce wines that reflect the history, characteristics, and culture of the land, and they continue to pursue every day the "great emotions" that only the best wines can provide. Naturally, they are extremely particular about quality, and strictly manage all stages from the grapes to bottling and distribution. They meet all the requirements of the rigorous food safety standards "BRC (British Retail Consortium)" and "IFS (International Food Standards)" and have been certified. They also strive to improve quality by reviewing and reinvesting in their technical equipment every year. Producers with such a commitment have earned the nickname "JEWELSTODRINK = drinking jewels".
