Jason is Palmer's second wine. A luxurious blend of grapes from their own Napa vineyards and some purchased grapes. Fermented and aged in French barrels (38% new barrels). Beautiful golden color, rich aromas of grapefruit, honeydew melon, honey, and flavors of pineapple and vanilla. Crispy aftertaste and long lingering aftertaste are impressive.

This Jason is like a second to Palmer.

However, since it is made using the same brewing method as the top cuvée and is a wine that was selected as Jason through rigorous selection before bottling in the final stage, it is not blended with any wine other than that produced by Palmer.

This is a bottle that fully expresses Palmer's individuality.

Vintage Information

After several warm years, 2019 was a relatively mild year. After a heavy winter and early spring rains, a spring storm delayed bud break, but rains in late May provided sufficient moisture for the growing season. From early June onwards, temperatures remained stable and sunny, providing ideal conditions for the grapes to form beautiful bunches, and a short heat wave at the end of summer helped the grapes to ripen. The harvest began on September 17th, 11 days later than the previous year, and ended on October 15th.

Technical information

Winemaking: The grapes are dropped into a press by gravity, and the whole bunches are gently pressed. The juice is then placed in a stainless steel tank and left at low temperature for 24 hours. The impurities are allowed to settle naturally, and the top layer is transferred to a barrel. The top layer is then gently pressed using the same vertical press as Champagne. The first fermentation is carried out over 45 days using only natural yeasts, and the wine is then transferred to a French barrel, aged on the lees, and subjected to 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled without clarification or filtration.

Tasting Comments

Silky and smooth on the palate, this wine is incredibly structured and complex with layers of lemon meringue, pear compote, pineapple juice, crushed granite and hints of oak, while rich aromas of butterscotch, almond cream, salted caramel and crème brûlée lead to a bright and delightful finish.
